In a couple of days I am headed to the Riveria Maya, Mexico for a destination wedding. As many of you know, all-inclusives and resorts are
not my typical style of travel. I prefer to be locally-based, eating local food and staying at smaller properties. I like to get out and explore areas rather than hanging out on the beach with a drink in my hand.
But...I'm exhausted. I've traveled quite a bit this year (40+ days on the road for international trips, not to mention domestic) for work and I haven't had any real vacation time. Sitting on the beach soaking up some rays doesn't seem so bad as I freeze my buns off here in Toronto today.
I am hoping to explore nearby areas in Playa del Carmen. I did visit and did some fun stuff the last time I was in the area, when I worked for Disney, but I am always down to explore (safely, of course). This, however is the first time I've traveled where I am okay if I spend time with the 25+ people I know going down for the wedding, and spend time some time taking sunset photography and enjoying the moment. I am eager to get some R & R.
I'm gone from Saturday till early Sunday morning and am eager to get a solid tan for the winter, some great sunset photos and the complexion of a well-rested human being.
What kind of vacations do you like to take when you need some rest and relaxation?
